FOUR NATIONS EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS

We offer a selection of fun and enriching one day school group programs.  All of the programming at Four Nations is designed to meet cross-curricular objectives and required core competencies, within a framework that integrates indigenous world views and perspectives.

Each day program includes an introduction to the ancestors of the land as well as our code of conduct to help ensure the emotional and spiritual well-being of all students. All the following programs can be adapted to accommodate elementary through high school students.

Choose from the following themes:

WEB OF LIFE

Learn the ancient indigenous perspective of how all things are related and connected; be it your classmates and family, plants, insects and even the stones. This program assists the students in drawing correlation between academic objectives, core competencies and community/social relations.

MEDICINE WHEEL

The medicine wheel is a symbol; a template of organization used by traditional First Nations peoples in countless applications. We introduce students to our medicine wheel as a mirror by which students can better self -regulate behavior and attitudes; as well as conduct their relationship to everyone and all life around them.  Come and learn about the many ways to apply this tool into your daily personal and school life.

A DISCOVERY OF HISTORICAL FIRST NATIONS’ HERITAGE

What does it mean to live in traditional Sinixt territory?  Who were and who are the historical First People of the land in which we now live?  What are their customs, stories and laws?  Learn all this and much more!

PRIMITIVE WILDERNESS SKILLS CLASS

Learning about primitive skills lends us perspective on what skills would have been needed to sustain ourselves in ancient aboriginal societies.  In our modern world, learning these skills develops an awareness of ourselves and our environment, strengthens our relationships to the land and others, as well as builds self-esteem.

BOTANY DAY

Explore your natural environment and the wealth of foods, tools and medicines at your fingertips in this class. This is a great way to spend the day studying science!

TRIBAL CHALLENGE DAY

(for students aged 12 and up)

Our Tribal Challenge Game is like a friendly version of the T.V. show “Survivor,” however in this game participants cooperate in order to help one another survive.
