Mourning Altars: We all encounter experiences in life where words simply cannot express the BIG emotions we are feeling. Words are not big enough. Join us and learn to let Mother Earth hold your feelings as you express your grief, your joy in life and death experiences and transitions. You will learn how to create living altars made from natural materials in a nature-based setting. This is a very cathartic mechanism in which to integrate the big changes and transitions that life is offering us right now. This practise moves our Big feelings out of our bodies so we can return to a state of peace and joy. You do not need to be an artist to participate in this wonderful course. This course is also available in the winter using suitable indoor facilities.
Testimonial: “This Mourning Altar healing process was held so tenderly and with great sensitivity by Kat. She is strong and soft, informative, wise and also brings a dose of humour to some very unfunny topics and issues just at the perfect times when I really needed to laugh. Indigenous Prophecies for These Times: Ancient instructions were left to us on how to successfully navigate these times of great change, purification and turmoil. We delve into these instructions to bring perspective and hope. They also offer a road map for how to keep our families and communities safe in these uncertain times.
Testimonial: “Who knew that Indigenous prophets were so accurate? They foretold of the first atomic bomb, airplanes, planes, cars, the destruction of the Two Towers on 911, alcohol, the covid 19 epidemic and the social problems that came with it and many more. And they left behind instructions for what we can do to prepare for these times of Earth’s Great Purification. I found solace in this knowledge. It’s like being given a road map for where to go next and what to do.”

Carving for Youth: foundational carving skills and life skills taught through an Indigenous lens, filled with story, laughter and connection. Like many of us, it is easier for youth to talk about what is on their minds and hearts, when their hands and eyes are captivated by an enjoyable task. Participants will be creating soapstone necklaces. The design is created first on paper, then carved into a bar of soap and then carved into soapstone and finished.
Communication is key to helping youth stay safe from self harm tendencies, addictions and violence. Individual creative expression brings confidence, joy and a sense of purpose and pride. In this program, carving provides a mechanism through which to connect with teens, building a container of hope, inspiration and life enhancing adult/peer relationships.
